GE WATER FILTERS

If you have a GE, Hotpoint, or RCA refrigerator then filter selection is easy! GE currently has one cartridge filter that is supposed to work in all of their refrigerators- GWF (replacing FXRC, MXRC, etc.) Note: GE also made Sears Coldspot refrigerators where the model number starts with 363.

GWF GE water filters are no longer available and have substituted to the new MWF GE SmartWater® water filters.

GWF

GWF replaces GWF01, GWF06, MXRC, HXRT, FXRT, HWF, and FXRC. Replaces Sears part numbers 9905 and 46-9905. GWF was designed to work with the high pressure water system included in the 2001 GE SmartWater refrigerators. GE recommeds the use of only the GWF in its high pressure water system refrigerators. However, GWF is backward compatible with all other GE SmartWater refrigerators prior to 2001 and GE Water by Culligan refrigerators. GWF has the same easy do-it-yourself installation as the FXRC.

This is the original GE factory replacement filter- not a generic substitute!

Adapter

This adapter is necessary when replacing the silver Culligan type filters (FXRC, HXRT, FXRT, MXRC). It is reusable.

FXRC

Above you see a picture of the old Culligan/GE style filter (FXRC, HXRT, FXRT, MXRC)

To replace this filter, you'll need to use the adapter. There are a few rare cases where the GWF + adapter doesn't fit well (the culligan filter was shorter), but 99% of the time there is no problem.
